PJC/Brooks Eckerd Pharmacy: Flu Shot Program in Full Swing...

admin @ Mon, 2005-10-24 21:46

The costs of the flu and pneumococcal vaccines are $25 and $35, respectively. Patients with Medicare Part B may receive the vaccines at no cost. In addition, Medicare recipients will be provided with valuable materials at all flu clinics regarding the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan.

In Massachusetts and Georgia, many Brooks and Eckerd pharmacists will be administering flu vaccines, as well. These pharmacists, entitled "Certified Immunizers," have successfully completed the APhA Immunization Training Program. The Brooks and Eckerd Certified Immunizers plan to administer 12,000 flu shots for the 2005 flu season.

"The convenience of a retail pharmacy and the healthcare expertise of our community pharmacists will lead us to expand this program in the future" explained Dan Haron, Senior Vice President of Pharmacy at Brooks Eckerd Pharmacy.

Brooks Eckerd Pharmacy will be conducting nearly 2,000 clinics this fall and anticipates serving approximately 150,000 patients. More information, including the specific schedule, can be found at brooksrx.com and eckerd.com.
